M.arte en Fundación Verde

Inauguración Montevideo:
Miércoles 9 de Marzo inauguramos la exposición M.arte en Fundación Verde (FUCAC, 18 de Julio 2017, en Montevideo), la cual se podrá visitar de lunes a viernes de 12 a 19hs, hasta finales de marzo 2022.

Volvemos a hacernos la misma pregunta que se hizo Linda Nochlin “¿porqué no ha habido grandes artistas mujeres en la historia del arte ?” y en Uruguay?; volvemos a dinamizar la investigación que se materializó en RIP (CCE, 2020) y reabrimos nuevamente un espacio de reflexión, de cuestionamiento, un espacio para proyectar nuevos escenarios.

¿Por qué el trabajo de Coco es tan necesario?

Porque instala la pregunta (dónde y cómo y qué lugar ocuparon las mujeres en el arte). Pero ante todo acompaña a ensayar respuestas, y no las dan, porque saben que si la respuesta no surge colectivamente no sirve.

Su investigación arriba a datos. Y saben que el dato tiene fuerza y es poco cuestionable.

Así, amplían con la pregunta y sostienen firme con el dato.

También entienden que el dato mata el relato. Entonces contraponen frases reales frente a escenarios ficticios. Para que de su yuxtaposición resuene lo que resuene en cada uno.

Hackean al pobre de Marte (Dios Romano de la guerra icono de la masculinidad) y toman de él lo que sirve, su fuerza. Y con ella hacen un lugar para las Mujeres en el arte (M.arte).

En el medio de la pregunta y el dato, en el medio de la realidad y la ficción, está Coco reordenando las fuerzas.

Por qué es importante Coco, porque con fuerza y amplitud nos proponen un espacio (no respuestas) de pensamiento de transformación colectiva.

Once again, we asked ourselves the same question that American art historian Linda Nochlin asked in 1971: “Why Have There Been No Great Women Artists?” and in Uruguay? We reactivate the research and investigation materialized in RIP (CCE, 2020) and reopen again a space for reflection and inquiry to project new scenarios.

Why Coco's investigation is so necessary?

Because it questions where, how and what place women occupy in art, and above all, it allows to rehears answers, not giving them, because they know that if the answer doesn't come up collectively, it's useless. The investigation arrives at data, and they know that this is strong and not questionable.
Thus, they expand with questions while holding firm with the data.
They also understand that data kills the story. They contrast real phrases against fictitious scenarios, so their juxtaposition resonates with everyone.
They hack the poor man from Mars (the Roman God of war icon of masculinity) and take from him what works, his strength. And with it, they make a place for Women in art (M.arte). Amid the query and the data, between reality and fiction, Coco is reordering the forces.

Why is Coco important? Because with strength and depth they offer us a space (not answers) of thought for collective transformation.
